Important Note

Keep the following tips in mind when visiting Rawdah:

  • The slot timings for Rawdah visit might vary depending on the prayer time. Check Nusuk app for precise slots.
  • To avoid crowds, visit Rawdah early during Fajr time, rather than the evening, in accordance with Nusuk app’s listed times.
  • Understanding the gates: Three-digit gate numbers lead to the mosque complex; two-digit gate numbers are for the mosque’s interior entrances.
  • Women have access to Masjid-e-Nabawi via gates 21 to 25 and 28 to 30. Gate 37 is closest to the Rawdah area (Riaz Ul Jannah).
  • The Rawdah visit can be missed when arriving late or waiting in queues. Make sure to reach an hour prior to your appointment timings. Nusuk allows only one permit per month, which could mean you would not being able to visit again until the next month.
  • Bring your passport, a copy of your visa, and have your Rawdah appointment information easily accessible—use mobile data to display the current details to staff, instead of a screenshot image.
  • Use a disposable bag for your shoes rather than leaving them outside the mosque, to avoid misplacing them.
  • Avoid pushing or running; as long as you have a permit, everyone will be given a chance to visit.

Frequently asked questions about Rawdah visit

What is Rawdah?

The Rawdah is a deeply revered area within the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. It is situated between the sacred chamber housing the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) grave and the historically significant pulpit (minbar) where he delivered sermons.

This area is distinguishable by its green carpet, differing from the red carpet in the rest of the mosque, and serves as a poignant reminder of the Prophet’s (Pbuh) legacy and the serenity of the afterlife.

Pilgrims visiting this space seek a moment of prayer and reflection, as it is believed to be a spot where supplications are accepted.

The Messenger (PBUH) of Allah SWT said,

“The area between my house and my pulpit is one of the gardens of Paradise.”  [Sahih Bukhari]

Why should we visit Rawdah?

The revered site holds great significance in Islam as conveyed by the Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), who stated:

“The area between my house and my pulpit is one of the gardens of Paradise.”  [Sahih Bukhari]

Yes, that would be the ideal way as visiting Rawdah and Prophet’s grave ﷺ  are in proximity and can be visited simultaneously.
