Umrah Regulations in Ramadan 1443 – 2022

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced Umrah Regulations in Ramadan 1443 for Umrah performers and worshippers. The announcement came after King Salman declared that the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah will be used in full capacity during the month of Ramadan, and the precautionary measures and preventive protocols that were introduced to stem the spread of the pandemic will be lifted completely.

According to the spokesperson of the Hajj and Umrah services Eng. Hisham Al-Saeed, The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued 23 million Umrah permits since the beginning of the season. However, citizens, residents, and visitors coming from outside the Kingdom will benefit a lot from the service of Issuing online Umrah permits during Ramadan.

The most important points announced for Umrah regulations in Ramadan

1. All precautionary and preventive measures that were applied to prevent the spread of Covid-19 will be lifted completely, this means that the two holy mosques will work at full capacity. No social distancing and no masks are required. 
2. The Guests of Allah aren’t required to present a negative PCR report upon arriving at the Kingdom.
3. Institutional quarantine is no more required for foreign Umrah pilgrims.
4. Non-vaccinated pilgrims or whoever didn’t receive Covid-19 vaccinations or have completed their doses will be able to perform Umrah and enter the two holy mosques provided that they are not infected with Covid-19 or have been in contact with people who have confirmed infection of the virus.
5. Umrah permits should be obtained through Eatmarna or Tawakkalna apps before coming to the Kingdom in order to be able to perform Umrah. 
6. Pilgrims can obtain Umrah permits without providing information about their immunization status.
7. Medical and health insurance covering Covid-19 infection is required for issuing Umrah e-visa.
8. According to the public security service, anyone caught coming to perform Umrah without having a permit will be fined SAR10,000

Important Notes for Umrah Regulations in Ramadan

• The company of a male guardian is no longer required for women above the age of 45 years old for Umrah performance. However, women under 45 years old must be accompanied by a male guardian. 
• Public Security will be cross-checking the permits on Tawakklna and Eatmarna apps by matching the national identity, residence, passport number, or border number. In addition to the date and time chosen on the permit.
• No need to get a permit for praying in the Grand Mosque, Nonetheless it is mandatory to get one for praying in Al-Rawdah Sharifa
• The minimum age for obtaining an Umrah permit is 5 years old.
• Booking dates for performing Umrah through the Eatmarna app is now available for holders of all types of visas and before their arrival to the Kingdom according to the following regulations: 

1. Get an entry visa to the Kingdom and ensure it’s valid when registering and booking through the app.
2. If no entry is made to the Kingdom 6 hours before the permit’s time at the latest, the permit will be automatically canceled. 
3. A person confirmed with Covid-19 infection or has been in contact with an infected person shall have the permit auto-canceled
